TWO close friends are travelling to two Asean countries and on to the border of China – in their trusty old Perodua Kancil.
Rushafizi Indrus, 41, and Nor Azman Musa, 41, began their journey yesterday at the Malaysia-Thai border at Wang Kelian heading towards Thailand and Laos, Utusan Malaysia reported.
Rushafizi said the total distance of the journey was estimated to be 5,000km spanning over nine days, in a trip called Kembara Anak Perlis to China Border 2022.
“This journey was my own idea after I travelled to Laos on motorcycle in 2015.
“This time, I want to do this in a car with my friend,” he added.
Rushafizi said the reason behind this journey was to inspire youth to learn to face life’s challenges.
“We want to show that even an old vehicle like this 660cc Kancil can reach the border of China,” he added.
On the cost of the trip, Rushafizi, who is a teacher, said that he and his friend were using their own savings and donations from several sponsors.
> People in Johor Baru have expressed their frustration over the lack of eggs in the market, Harian Metro reported.
Checks around supermarkets and grocery shops found that only Omega eggs, which cost more, are available.
Shopper Khairul Mohd Ali, 35, said he couldn’t get eggs for daily use.
Despite talk that the supply of eggs would recover, he did not see this happening at the shops, he added.
“I keep hearing the supply of eggs will recover and we will be able to buy chicken eggs as usual after this.
“But it’s strange -- every time I want to buy eggs, the situation is the same. On the shelves, there are usually Omega eggs that are packed with only 10 eggs, or a few stacks of small eggs left,” he said.
The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry said that inspections and surveys on the supply of chicken eggs and cooking oil were carried out at each distribution chain to ensure there were no supply issues.
Its state director Mohd Hairul Anuar Bohro said inspections found that the supply of chicken eggs and cooking oil packets were still available and sufficient.
