KOTA KINABALU: People have been reminded to maintain a good level of self-care while celebrating the festive season.
Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin said everyone should continue to be wary and not leave anything to chance when it comes to the spread of Covid-19.
“We must obey the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the government from time to time so that everyone will be protected from the Covid-19 threat,” he said in his special message in conjunction with Christmas Day 2022 at Istana Negeri here on Tuesday (Dec 20).
“I also wish to advise all levels of society to always look after their personal safety as well as that of others, particularly when travelling on the road during the festive season," said Juhar.
“Other than that, we must practise the concept of prudent spending in preparation for the start of the new school session soon,” he added.
Juhar also recorded his appreciation to the frontliners who were involved in efforts to battle the Covid-19 pandemic.
He thanked all those in the state including from government agencies, government-linked companies, the private sector and non-governmental organisations, among others.
“The diligent and continuous efforts in curbing the spread of the virus has enabled the country to transition to the endemic phase, subsequently allowing the government to focus on recovery efforts and development,” he said.
Besides that, he also urged people to work harder to equip themselves with knowledge and skills so that they would be able to face all kinds of challenges in the future.
“Sabah is rich with resources (and this) provides plenty of opportunities and potential to be explored,” Juhar said.
“This potential can be more easily realised for the prosperity of the state and well-being of the people if we have the related knowledge and skills. Let’s work together to step into 2023 with a high commitment to our beloved state,” he added.
The Sabah Head of State and his family also conveyed their best wishes to Sabahans in conjunction with Christmas as well as the New Year.
Sabah observes two days of public holiday on Dec 24 and 25 for Christmas.
