Batang Kali landslide: Chrysanthemum bouquets brighten up barren landscape

HULU SELANGOR: Bouquets of bright coloured chrysanthemums contrast the barren red soil at the site of the landslide that hit the campsite at Father's Organic Farm in Batang Kali.

As the search and rescue (SAR) operation resumed for the eighth day on Friday (Dec 23), the media continued to stake out the site near Jalan Batang Kali-Genting where earlier some videographers were allowed to enter the site.

They were escorted by personnel into the site and spent around an hour to get the latest footage of the situation.

The Star was told that the flowers were placed by contractors who run the excavators after some unknown individuals requested to pay their respects to the victims on Thursday (Dec 22).

The tragedy that struck at 2.42am in the wee hours of Dec 16 has so far claimed 30 lives.

An 11-year old boy is believed to be the only missing victim while 61 others have been rescued.
