Batang Kali landslide: Eighth day of search stalled by heavy rain

HULU SELANGOR: The search and rescue (SAR) operation at the Batang Kali landslide site has once again been stalled due to heavy rain.

Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Suffian Abdullah said this was done to ensure the safety of rescuers.

He also said that post-mortem examinations on four victims were concluded on Thursday (Dec 22).

"The post-mortem on four victims recovered yesterday has been done and the families have claimed the remains," he said in a statement on Friday (Dec 23) evening.

Supt Suffian also said that rescue efforts on the eighth day of the operation did not yield any results.

Earlier, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department said that they had dug through 70% of the debris on average in each sector and were now focussing their search on a single area, Sector C.

The remains of the final missing victim, an 11-year-old boy, have yet to be recovered.

The tragedy took place at Father's Organic Farm campsite here on Dec 16 at 2.42am.
