Batang Kali landslide: Rescuer rushed to hospital after collapsing during SAR ops


HULU SELANGOR: A Civil Defence Force (APM) member was rushed to the hospital after he collapsed in the middle of the search and rescue (SAR) operation at the Father's Organic Farm landslide site on Saturday (Dec 24).

Selangor APM confirmed that Muhamad Faiq Haikhal Mohd Jeffry, who was part of the SAR team at the red zone, had fainted at about 1pm.

"We believe he collapsed due to the hot weather as well as dehydration and lack of food.

"He is an APM personnel from Sabak Bernam. He was rushed to Selayang Hospital for treatment," APM said in a statement.

It was earlier reported that the SAR operation had commenced at about 7.30am Saturday.

The SAR operation is still looking for the last victim - a boy - and it will focus on Sector A (Hillview) of Father's Organic Farm.

The landslide tragedy, which occurred at the campsite in Gohtong Jaya, Batang Kali, at 2.42am on Dec 16, has so far claimed 30 lives, with one still missing. Another 61 survived the ordeal.
