A SENIOR citizen at Kampung Ruat in Yan, Kedah, sells 400 packets of nasi lemak at RM1 each and trades only for two hours daily, but still enjoys brisk business.
Azizan Mat Said, 65, said he had no heart to increase his nasi lemak prices despite the increase in costs as he did not want to lose his customers, Kosmo! reported.
Despite it being sold for only RM1, his nasi lemak does not miss anything, as it has egg, anchovies, ground nuts, cucumbers and sambal – the complete set.
“All the things are expensive – ikan bilis, ikan termenung, eggs and chicken but I could not bring myself to increase the prices.
“I am used to selling at RM1 and most of my customers are village people,” said the former taxi driver, who has been selling nasi lemak for six years now.
Azizan sells the nasi lemak with his wife Fatimah Ayob, 61.
He also sells other traditional kuih, which in turn covers the cost for the loss he makes in selling nasi lemak.
“I wrap everything in banana leaves,” said Azizan, who only sells for two hours everyday between 2pm and 4pm.
