Actor arrested for reckless driving

KUALA LUMPUR: A local actor in his 30s has been detained for driving recklessly and causing an accident along the MRR2 on Tuesday (Dec 27).

A video of a vehicle being driven in a dangerous manner has since gone viral.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the driver changed lanes recklessly, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

"This led to the driver ramming his vehicle into the rear of an MPV.

"The impact of the collision caused the suspect's passenger to be thrown out of the vehicle, sustaining injuries," he said in a statement on Thursday (Dec 29).

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act for reckless driving.

"Both drivers came forward to lodge police reports over the accident.

"We have detained the (actor) to facilitate the investigation," he added.

ACP Mohamad Farouk urged witnesses to contact Traffic investigating officer Insp Nur Nadzirah Abdul Rahim at 012-4401093.
