Budget 2023 to prioritise common issues agreed upon by unity govt, says Akmal Nasrullah

JOHOR BARU: The coming Budget 2023 announcement will prioritise the common issues that have been agreed upon under the unity government, says Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir.

The Deputy Local Government Development Minister said that any new issues will be given consideration depending on the urgency of the case.

“Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently announced that the mini budget and the allocation is very limited. As for the coming Budget 2023, it will focus more on what has already been agreed upon.

“Any new issues will need to be fine-tuned thoroughly before they can be included in Budget 2023 but I believe that this will take time,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters after the Prime Minister's visit to Masjid Kampung Melayu Majidee, here, on Friday (Dec 30).

The Johor Baru MP said this when asked to comment on whether the government will increase the allocation given to the Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) in preparation for the monsoon season.

"Different districts in Johor necessitate different approaches; for example, issues in Johor Baru are more about flash floods, whereas issues in Segamat are about flooding."

“I have spoken with the MBJB mayor, and we will look into some of the things we have implemented,” he added.
