Seremban cops arrest man on suspicion of raping 13-year-old stepdaughter

JEMPOL: Police have detained a 34-year-old man on suspicion of raping his 13-year-old stepdaughter on several occasions over the past year.

District police chief Supt Hoo Chang Hook said the suspect, who works as a stall helper, was detained on Thursday (Dec 29) following a report lodged by the victim.

Hoo said the victim claimed she was last raped on Dec 10 at their home in Batu Kikir.

"The victim claimed she was lying down in the living room around 8pm when the suspect raped her.

"She then told her older sister about the assault and was told to lodge a report," he said in a statement on Friday (Dec 30).

A police team arrested the suspect about two hours later.

Supt Hoo said police later obtained an order from the Magistrate's Court to remand the suspect until Jan 5.

The case is being probed under Section 376B of the Penal Code for committing incest.

Offenders can be jailed between six and 20 years and whipped upon conviction.

Supt Hoo said the victim has been temporarily placed under the care of her grandmother.
