Fireman injured after falling from roof of burning house


KOTA KINABALU: A fireman was injured after falling from the roof of a burning house here, Saturday (Dec 31).

Azrin Amin, 43, from the Kota Kinabalu fire station, was putting out the fire from one of the four burning houses at Sunny Garden near here at around 2.40pm, when he fell.

State Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations, Misran Bisara said the fireman escaped with minor injuries following the incident and is in stable condition.

He said Azmin was taken to the hospital for further medical examination after that.

Azmin was with other firemen at the scene, putting out the fire following a distress call at 2.36pm.

Four houses were destroyed in the blaze and no one else was hurt, said Misran.

The fire was brought under control at 3.02pm and operations ceased at 4.36pm.

The cause of the fire and the losses incurred are under investigation.
