KUALA LUMPUR: Pupils of SJK(C) Mun Choong penned touching messages of love and gratitude in memory of the 11 people killed in the landslide in Batang Kali, Selangor, on Dec 16.

“I want to be your student again in my next life” and “I miss you, teacher” were a familiar refrain among the notes.

The 11 linked to the school – six teachers, three pupils, the canteen operator and his assistant – were among 31 who perished in the tragedy.

Over 1,200 attended a memorial service at the school yesterday, where those present wrote messages in honour of the deceased before hanging the cards on a wishing tree placed at the assembly hall.

“Thank you to all you teachers. You will never be forgotten, rest in peace. I want to be your student in the next life,” wrote Lau Chai Ying.

“Thank you, teacher Liu (Pei Si). Thank you for these two years of education, I will miss you, and we will be teacher and student again in the next life,” wrote a Year Six student.

A Year One pupil attached a drawing of her and her teacher to her note that read: “Teacher, you will always be in my heart, thank you for teaching me, love you.”
