BADMINTON player Goh Liu Ying (pic) is apparently setting her sights on the silver screen.

Sin Chew Daily reported that Goh, who won a silver medal at the Rio Olympic Games in 2016 as a doubles player, is aspiring to be an actress.

“If there is a chance, I wish to act in a badminton or sports-related drama,” said Goh, 33.

She had earlier made a special appearance in a drama titled Rally For Love, a joint-production between Malaysia and Taiwan.

Recently, Goh made her debut in singing by participating in the recording of a Chinese New Year song Happy Together with fellow Malaysian singers Jeryl Lee, Fuying and Sam.

Goh said she only came to know that she needed to dance when recording the music video.

“So, I learned at the last minute and kept practising the dance steps after my make-up,” she added.

Goh and her partner Chan Peng Soon were previously among the top 10 mixed doubles players in the world.

Their biggest success came in 2016 during the Rio Olympics.

Two months ago, Goh confirmed that she is hanging up her racquet after the Malaysian Open, which takes place from Jan 10-15.

> Key players in healthcare tourism are all set in the race for Chinese tourists as the world’s second largest economy reopens its border next week, reported Nanyang Siang Pau.

Promoting Malaysia as the fertility hub of Asia, they are eyeing those from Chinese cities in the southern region such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Fuzhou, Hangzhou and Shanghai.

Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) chief executive officer Mohd Daud Mohd Arif said stakeholders in the country had upgraded the ecosystem of medical tourism during the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to MHTC statistics, fertility healthcare had increased by 300% from 2011 to 2016.

“Together with the member hospitals, we have put together a 2023 plan to provide safe and quality services to the tourists,” he said.

He said they would push for digital marketing, enhance knowledge in fertility healthcare while highlighting the excellent performance of Malaysian medical teams.

“Malaysia has become the top destination for Chinese tourists seeking the service,” he said, adding that the number of international healthcare tourists was on the rise since Malaysia reopened its borders in April last year, helping towards reaching the 20225 target of raking in RM2bil in medical tourism.
