PETALING JAYA: With economic revival and easing the people’s financial burden being the main thrusts of the government, politicians from both sides say they want the issues to be addressed with the correct remedies.
Titiwangsa MP Datuk Seri Johari Ghani said what the country needs now was political stability to ensure economic recovery.
“All political parties must respect the decision of the rakyat in the general election.
“The government should focus on economic development and put the country on the right track,” said the Barisan Nasional MP.
Perikatan Nasional deputy chairman Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man pledged to pursue a mature approach for the sake of the people.
The former environment minister said the Opposition’s priority remained on bread-and-butter issues as the people were still grappling with the high cost of living.
“The government must have a detailed plan to face the tough economic challenges in the first and second quarters of the year, as predicted by economic experts.
“The economic situation is expected to worsen when the ringgit weakens further compared to the US dollar, as the Russian-Ukraine war is still dragging on,” said Tuan Ibrahim.
The PAS deputy president and Kubang Kerian MP said the Opposition’s role was not merely to oppose for the sake of opposing, adding that Perikatan members had agreed to keep to “mature and harmonious politics”.
