Putra lodges police report against Melaka BN chief following allegations of power abuse

MELAKA: Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra) has lodged a police report against Melaka Barisan Nasional and Umno chief Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh (pic) for alleged misuse of power.

The party's state Wanita chief Laila Norinda Maon said she made the report urging for a full investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over Ab Rauf's supposed abuse of power involving concession on the road maintenance system (Marris).

"We want MACC to investigate whether there is an element of power abuse in awarding the concession following a viral video on Facebook recently," she said after lodging a report at Ayer Keroh police station on Monday (Jan 2).

The five-minute-19-second video alleged that Ab Rauf, who is also Melaka's investment, industry, entrepreneur development and cooperatives committee chairman, attempted to redirect Marris' allocations for local government to the Chief Minister Incorporation (CMI).

The allocation from Marris is also aimed to help small-time contractors in the state.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit confirmed receiving the report.
