A TEACHER, who borrowed RM15,000 from an ah long, has finally settled the loan after 23 years, Harian Metro reported.

Known only as Zuraidah, she earns a salary of RM6,000.

But she would end up with just RM100 to RM400 each month after paying the ah long, who had kept her ATM card as collateral.

“My friends would take their salaries from the bank, but I collected mine from the ah long’s office,” she lamented.

Once, she obtained a new ATM card as she wanted to withdraw the cash, but the incident caused three thugs to go after her.

Zuraidah, 53, said they even went to her school to look for her.

With the assistance of the Malaysian Islamic Consumers Association, the mother of three managed to pay off the remainder of the loan.

The association estimated that Zuraidah had paid out at least RM138,000 to the loan shark.

> Utusan Malaysia reported that four newlyweds ended up paying additional costs when they were fleeced by a wedding planner.

Siti Azira Ahmad, whose 25-year-old brother got married, said she had to fork out RM5,000 more when the company did not show up to provide the food and drinks, besides the tents, chairs, and tables for the wedding last week.

One couple, Mohamad Amirul Mustafa, 26, and his wife, Aisyaidayu Jamil, 25, claimed that the company’s workers did not show up at the wedding ceremony in Butterworth, Penang, on Oct 9, 2022.

“We took a package worth RM6,600 for the ceremony and made the full payment on May 16,” said Mohamad Amirul.

However, the company did not provide the food and facilities, he added.

“We had to borrow money from family members to get the food, drinks and dais (pelamin) and rent a tent so that our big day could go on,” he said.

> The first meal that actress Fatin Afeefa made for her husband Aliff Awang after they tied the knot was instant noodles, Kosmo! reported.

“Thank God. First meal as husband and wife – maggi (instant noodles),” said Aliff, also known as Opai, on his Instagram Story on Saturday.

“People say that it’s not the value of an item that makes something worth appreciating, but the memory,” said Aliff, who is an online investor.

Last Friday, Fatin, 28, also known as Fatin Nur Afifah Shamsudin, married the 30-something Aliff in a ceremony held in Subang Jaya, Selangor.

Fatin was once married to actor Adam Shahz in December 2013, but they divorced in May 2017.
