Wisma Jakel in Shah Alam goes up in flames


SHAH ALAM: A three-storey building here, which housed textile fabrics, was destroyed in a fire.Wisma Jakel was ablaze at 7.19am yesterday.

Some 80% of the building was damaged, said Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Norazam Khamis, who added that no one was hurt or killed.

He said 38 officers and personnel and several fire engines were deployed to the location.

As at 4.30pm, firemen were still working to put out the last remnants of the fire at the building, including the textile fabrics.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said initial investigations revealed that the fire at Wisma Jakel might have been caused by a short circuit.

“We are still investigating the amount of losses suffered by the owner,” he said.

Police personnel were also on the scene for traffic control, ACP Mohd Iqbal said.
