Second fire breaks out at Wisma Jakel


SHAH ALAM: Days after a fire almost destroyed Wisma Jakel here, a second fire broke out at another shop there.

When contacted, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Norazam Khamis confirmed that a second fire broke out at Wisma Jakel along Jalan Plumbum S7/S early Tuesday (Jan 3).

He said the department received a distress call at 12.40am, following which 43 firemen were deployed to the scene and they managed to control the flames from spreading at 1.45am.

He said that the fire affected a store room on the third floor that kept curtains.

"The fire was successfully extinguished at 3.07am," he added.

On Sunday (Jan 1), a fire razed the popular garment and textile retailer's branch here, leading to an estimated loss of almost RM100mil.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim has urged the public to not speculate on the cause of the fire.
