YAN: The Kedah police is committed to conduct a transparent, fair and impartial investigation into a senior officer who was alleged of raping a girl believed to be underage.
Kedah police chief Datuk Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad (pic) said they received a police report related to a rape incident that was believed to have occurred on Dec 28, 2022 at around 6.25pm.
"A teenage girl had accused the police inspector of raping her in his office at the Yan district police headquarters in Kedah.
"The girl is the complainant for another police case and the suspect in this case is the investigating officer for the case.
"An investigation has been carried out under Section 376 of the Penal Code," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 4).

Wan Hassan said the suspect had been arrested and remanded for investigation until Jan 5.
"If he is found guilty, he can be punished with a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and caning," he said.
Wan Hassan added that the police were always committed to executing their responsibilities as the national main enforcement agency.
"To ensure that this case is resolved as soon as possible, the investigation has been conducted by senior police officers from the Kedah contingent police headquarters.
"The Kedah police promised that a transparent, fair and impartial investigation will be carried out.
"The investigation papers will be referred to the Kedah prosecution director so that the case can be brought and there will be no compromise for police misconduct," he said.
Wan Hassan urged the public not to make any speculations that may destroy the peace and credibility of the police and interfere with the investigation in progress.
"The public is encouraged to give cooperation and help the police in the efforts to combat criminal behaviour by transmitting any information through the MERS 999 line or by contacting any nearby police station," he said.
