Less than 2% in Johor took second booster dose

JOHOR BARU: Some 56.7% of the population in Johor have received their first Covid-19 booster shot while only 1.8% of them have received their second booster dose, says state health and unity committee chairman Ling Tian Soon.

He said as at Tuesday, some 87% of the population in Johor had completed their first and second vaccinations.

“However, only 56.7% of the entire population gave received their vaccine booster and 1.8% their second (booster) dose,’’ he said in a statement yesterday.

Ling said the protection provided by the Covid-19 vaccine would decrease after a certain time depending on the type of vaccine.

“I would like to advise the public, especially high-risk groups or those with health-related issues, to get their vaccinations to reduce the probability of serious infection or death,” he added.

Ling said individuals who have not completed their two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine or the boosters could do so via walk-in or appointments at listed health clinics or hospitals starting Jan 9.

Residents in Johor can check the listed clinics or hospitals by contacting the Johor Health Department via telephone at 07-2245180/188/189, email at jknjohor@moh.gov.my or go to https://jknjohor.moh.gov.my.
