KUALA LUMPUR: An official letter will be written to Transport Minister Anthony Loke about the route the MRT3 would take through the Pandan Parliamentary constituency, says Rafizi Ramli.
The Pandan MP also said that he will be speaking with Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT) representatives in the next few weeks to get a formal briefing and discuss the matter.
This comes after residents started protesting about the construction of the MRT3 due to the possibility of their homes being demolished to make way for it.
“The original proposed alignment would have involved major residential parts of Pandan, which are Taman Bakti and Taman Kencana,” said Rafizi during the Pandan town hall session on Friday (Jan 7).
“I have discussed with Loke; any decision regarding the alignment should be discussed and take into account the views and decision of the residents," he added.
Meanwhile, Taman Bakti Protest MRT3 at Block D member Aslin Bahar said that she inherited the house from her father, and she has three children under the age of 17.
“We had received a notice mentioning the house will be taken and they had asked us to sign the forms, which the residents refused,” said the 38-year-old.
She added that when she was given the house, she spent almost RM10,000 to resolve the issues that came with it.
Aslin said that she is relieved to hear that Rafizi proposed to provide a housing area within Ampang for the affected residents if the alignments are still given the green light.
The issue was brought to light when residents raised it during the Pandan town hall session.
Other issues brought up during the townhall are the overbearing amount of immigrants running stalls, rubbish harrowing the streets and road issues.
On this, Rafizi said that it is easier to handle issues that are directly linked to councils such as roads and licenses.
