PM to announce Malaysia's ambassador to Indonesia soon


SEPANG: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to announce Malaysia's ambassador to Indonesia soon, says Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir.

The Foreign Minister said a candidate had been chosen and the appointment procedure was being finalised.

"The Prime Minister will announce the candidate soon," Zambry said at a curtain raiser before the Prime Minister's first official visit to Indonesia at Kuala Lumpur International Airport here on Saturday (Jan 7).

He said the appointment ceremony would be held in Malaysia.

Anwar is making his first official visit as the 10th Malaysian Prime Minister to Indonesia on Sunday (Jan 8).

During his two-day visit, Anwar will be meeting Indonesian president Joko Widodo on Jan 9 at Istana Bogor.

He will be accompanied by Zambry and International Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

The visit will primarily focus on issues relating to border demarcation, trade cooperation, migrant workers and palm oil discrimination, among others.
