A UNIVERSITY student in Singapore was sentenced to 15 days in jail for filming an upskirt video of a 20-year-old female student in a campus toilet, China Press reported.

The incident happened at around 8.30am on Feb 5, 2021 when the 22-year-old student from Nanyang Technological University followed the female student into the university’s toilet.

He then secretly filmed her through the gap under the cubicle.

The victim saw the act and informed her classmates after returning to the classroom and one of the professors immediately contacted the police to detain the man.

The defence attorney pleaded for a lighter sentence as the defendant showed signs of mental disorder at the time of the incident.

However, the prosecutor pointed out that a strong sentence is needed to encourage victims to report such crimes.
