Two Datuks remanded in KL Tower probe

KUALA LUMPUR: Two men have been remanded for four days to assist investigations into the purchase and takeover of the Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd concession.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Com-mission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said Datuk Abdul Hamid Shaikh Abdul Razak Shaikh and Datuk Tan Ser Lay were taken to the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

“The Magistrate’s Court allowed for both suspects to be remanded until Jan 7,” he said when contacted yesterday.

One of the suspects is the managing director of Hydroshoppe Sdn Bhd that took over the shares of Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd and the other is a director of Romantique Gallery Sdn Bhd, he added.

The suspects were arrested at the MACC office in Putrajaya on Friday afternoon.

Sources said investigators belie-ved that several hundred thousands of ringgit and a luxury watch were gifted to higher-ups involved in the takeover.

On Dec 29, the MACC said it had summoned three people in connection with an allegedly suspicious sale of shares involving the management ownership of KL Tower.
