PETALING JAYA: The mobile phone and wallet of Batang Kali landslide victim Liu Pei Si have been found and returned to her family, says the late teacher’s husband David Ling Mun Siong.

According to Sin Chew Daily, Ling said cash and important documents inside the wallet were returned as well.

Ling had earlier failed to find his wife’s belongings that were supposed to have been kept in the boot of Liu’s car at the Father's Organic Farm campsite.

He lodged a police report after his late wife’s Touch ‘n Go card, linked to his ewallet, was used following her death.

Police subsequently arrested the suspect, said to be a civil servant, who had used the card.

“The police took swift action after I provided them with the Touch ‘n Go records of toll charges.

“They acquired CCTV footage from the toll booths, (traced) and arrested the suspect,” he said, adding that he was thankful to recover Liu’s belongings and phone which he said contained precious photos and memories of his late wife.

The daily also reported Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Norazam Khamis' clarification that the suspect was not a fireman.

Liu, who was one of the supervising teachers of the SJK(C) Mun Choong field trip to the farm, was one of 31 people who lost their lives in the massive landslide that hit in the wee hours of Dec 16.

Liu’s son Zi Xuang, 19, who was also at the campsite, was among the 61 who were rescued at the site of the disaster.
