Stay united to face state elections, Umno info chief reminds party members

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno members must be in solidarity to ensure its readiness to face six state elections this year, says Datuk Isham Jalil.

The party information chief said that unity among the party members was crucial to discuss strategies to face the state polls.

"We’ll be facing six state elections this year. So, unity among the members is very important and we need to discuss on how to face it (the polls)," he told reporters after attending a closed-door presidential briefing at Dewan Merdeka in World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur here Wednesday (Jan 11).

Isham also said that there was no discussion on cooperation between Umno and Pakatan Harapan during the briefing.

"We were just discussing among ourselves (about state elections). We have yet to discuss with external parties," he added.

He also said that the party leadership would always be ready to answer questions posed by representatives throughout the assembly.

"Just like every other year, the matters that were discussed by the representatives will be brought to the attention of our leaders which then will be addressed in policy speeches or the closing speech," he said.

Umno General Assembly 2022 will commence on Wednesday (Jan 11) night with the opening ceremony for the Youth, Wanita and Puteri wing assemblies.
