Details to be known soon on BN-PH collaboration in Selangor

SHAH ALAM: Details on the collaboration between Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan in Selangor will be announced soon, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (pic).

The Mentri Besar said he would make an announcement on the matter by this week or early next week.

“I will highlight certain things at the exco meeting today and make certain decisions,” he told reporters after attending the state government’s monthly meeting here yesterday.

The event, which also saw Amirudin presenting his New Year’s message, was attended by various department heads, village headmen, elected representatives and community leaders.

He added that the decision on the type and nature of the collaboration would be determined by the end of this month.

“We have to first identify the nature of the collaboration.

“In PKR meetings, we have already made the decision,” said Amirudin, who is Selangor Pakatan chief and PKR vice-president.

He said what was left now was for him to discuss the matter with state Pakatan leaders.

“Basically, I know there would not be any opposition, but we have to first look at the formula,” he said.

“Once all these have been done, Selangor will start preparing for the state election.”

The state government’s five-year term will end on Aug 26. It is among six states – others being Penang, Negri Sembilan, Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah – that did not hold their state polls simultaneously with the 15th General Election last November.

Sources said they expect the state election to be conducted sometime in May.

Amirudin said he has had positive discussions so far and he hopes the potential collaboration in the state would represent the sentiments of the Federal Government. In GE15, Pakatan lost the Kuala Langat, Hulu Selangor and Kapar seats, which used to be PKR’s, to Perikatan Nasional’s PAS.
