Fee for making SD increased from RM4 to RM10

PUTRAJAYA: The fees for making a statutory declaration (SD) and exhibits in the document will increase to RM10 effective Jan 16.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reforms) Datuk Seri Azalina Osman Said said the government agreed to review the fee for SDs under Section 4 of the Statutory Declarations Act 1960.

The last time the fee for SD was reviewed was almost 30 years ago on March 4, 1993, through the P.U.(A) 78/93 gazette, which was RM4 for an SD and RM2 for exhibits in the SD document.

Azalina said the government had decided to review the fee after taking into account the economic growth, inflation rate, operation cost, cost to appoint a Commissioner of Oaths and comparison with fees of other countries.

"The new fee was set after a careful study carried out by the government with the stakeholders and

Pertubuhan Gabungan Pesuruhjaya Sumpah Malaysia (Pesuma)," she said in a statement on Friday (Jan 13). – Bernama
