KUALA LUMPUR: Umno delegates have asked the party leadership to see how best to help imprisoned former president Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
They called for them to ensure fairness and justice for the jailed former prime minister.
Sabah delegate Ghazalie Ansing was among delegates who made such a plea to the party leadership.

“Bossku (Najib) has done so much for all of us, for Umno and the people. His contributions are immeasurable.
“He has helped Sabah so much. Please help him now,” he said in his debate at the Umno general assembly on Saturday (Jan 14).
Pahang delegate Fadzli Mohamad Kamal also shared the same sentiment saying that party leadership must do something to uphold justice in line with Rukun Negara.
“It will be the last chance for Bossku to uphold justice after he was denied the chance to replace his defence lawyer and restricted from presenting new evidence.

“Pahang pleads to the authorities and party as well as the government leadership to do something right in upholding justice in accordance with Rukun Negara principles,” he said, who is also Raub Umno Youth chief.
Fadzli also said that Najib had contributed a lot to the party and the country, hence, he deserved to be helped.
Najib on Jan 5 filed a petition with the United Nations Human Rights Council Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (UNWGAD) to seek his release from prison or a retrial of his SRC International Sdn Bhd case.
He has been serving jail time for four months after the Federal court dismissed Najib's final appeal against his conviction in the criminal case over the misappropriation of RM42mil from SRC’s funds.
