Fahmi: Cabinet ministers attending retreat today to discuss KPI

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is holding a retreat with Cabinet ministers today at an undisclosed location.

Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil (pic) said the retreat would discuss the future direction of the government and set key performance indicators (KPI) for each ministry.

“The retreat is timely because, over the course of the last few months, the ministers have familiarised themselves with their ministries.

“By now, they would have an understanding of the organisation and its functions, and this is important in charting the direction of the unity government,” he told Bernama after presenting New Year contributions to the Chinese community in the Lembah Pantai parliamentary constituency here yesterday.

Earlier, Anwar reportedly said a special retreat would be held for ministers to set the KPIs for each ministry and get input on their performance after about a month in office.

Meanwhile, Fahmi, who is also Pakatan Harapan’s communications director, said the coalition was placing emphasis on the formulation of policies with other parties in the unity government as it geared up for the six state elections this year.He said the cooperation agreement between the coalitions under the unity government at the federal level could provide the modus operandi for establishing relations between the parties that form the government at the state levels.

“We have already formed a unity government in Perak and Pahang but have yet to do so in Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Johor and Melaka. So, I am confident this rhythm at the federal level will continue at the state level,” he said.
