PETALING JAYA: A retreat for Cabinet ministers and senior civil officers was held to strengthen unity among them, says the National Institute of Public Administration (Intan).
All 27 Cabinet members and 10 senior officers in the civil service participated in the unity government retreat programme at Seri Perdana, Putrajaya, yesterday, said Intan corporate communications division.
“The retreat comprised briefing sessions on important aspects towards enhancing delivery and strengthening the governance of the government machinery,” the statement said.
It said this was in line with the wishes of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to translate the remedial and reform agendas into the administration of the unity government.
The aspects touched on included government structure, public administration affairs, management of government finances and procurement, international conferences and the country’s interests, government protocol and professionalism, sustainable development, economic scenarios and challenges along with briefings on media communication.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali briefed the attendees on Key Performance Index (KPI) for Cabinet ministers.
According to a source, the ministers were asked to report on their work in the past one month as well as lay out the way forward in their ministries.
“We did not want to spend too much on this retreat. That’s probably why the Prime Minister held it at Seri Perdana,” the source said.
