Selangor govt to add RM21.1mil for slope reinforcement work, says MB

KLANG: The Selangor government will add on an allocation of RM21.1 mil to go towards reinforcement work on slopes, says Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said in a statement on Monday (Jan 16) that the decision was made after a comprehensive report on the Batang Kali landslide was presented to the state executive council.

Amirudin then said that the funds would go towards reinforcing the site as suggested by the Public Works Department.

He added that guidelines would also be drawn up on the running of businesses and campsites in such areas in the state.

“Guidelines pertaining to businesses and campsite activities will be jointly formulated by the state government and local authorities to upgrade safety for Selangorians conducting these activities,’’ said Amirudin.

On the landslide at Phase 2 of Bukit Permai in Ampang, Amirudin said the Ampang Municipal Council has issued a notice to 15 houses in the vicinity asking the occupants to vacate.

He added this was because the area was unsafe due to ground movement.

“In view of this, work to strengthen the (soil) banks is being carried out while awaiting the full analysis report from the Hulu Langat district and land office,’’ said Amirudin.

On another matter, Amirufin said the state government has allocated RM50 mil for the road paving project which will be implemented soon this year.

“This effort will involve the maintenance and widening of roads that are under the state’s jurisdiction and it will be chaired by the exco for infrastructure and agriculture YB Ir. Izham Hashim,’’ said Amirudin.

The Mentri Besar also said the state was committed to improving, maintaining and upgrading public facilities at every state assembly constituency.

He added the initiative will be under the Phase 2 Selangor Penyayang Project with an allocation of RM500,000 for every state constituency and work is expected to start at the end of Feb this year.

“The allocation will also involve the construction of the Selangor Penyayang community complex at every state constituency," said Amirudin.
