Maids included in new foreign labour recalibration programme starting Jan 27

PUTRAJAYA: The Labour Recalibration Programme 2.0 (RTK 2.0) to legalise foreign workers, including domestic helpers, will begin on Jan 27, says Immigration Department director-general Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud.

Interested employers may start applying for appointments via the department's website on Jan 27 and the entire RTK2.0 process should be finalised within three weeks of the appointment, he added.

"Employers must first apply for an appointment on the website and will get a date within three days," he told the press during a briefing on RTK 2.0 at department headquarters here on Wednesday (Jan 18).

"They must accompany their illegal foreign workers who qualify for RTK 2.0 along with the relevant documents to the Immigration Department on the given date.

"The verification process itself should be finished within the day itself depending on the number of applications.

"After that, our officials will decide on each application. Rejected applicants may appeal or reapply at a later date while those who are approved must undergo a health check-up by Fomema.

"Anyone failing the check-up will be sent back home while those who pass must then pay the fees relevant to their sector of work.

"The foreign workers will then be given a temporary working visit pass (PLKS) after the payments are processed," he said.

Khairul Dzaimee said only foreign workers in the manufacturing, construction, mining, security, service, agriculture, farming and the newly-added foreign maid sectors would be eligible to apply.
