MetMalaysia anticipates monsoon surge to begin tomorrow until Jan 23


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) anticipates monsoon surge to begin tomorrow until Jan 23, with possible continuous rainfall over certain states, namely Johor, Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu.

MetMalaysia director-general Muhammad Helmi Abdullah in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 18) said the department had issued a continuous rain warning for the states from tomorrow until Jan 22.

"Meanwhile, thunderstorms and heavy rain with strong winds are also expected to occur in the interior and west of the peninsula, central and western Sarawak and western Sabah in the afternoon and early evening during the forecast period," he said.

He also said that strong winds and rough sea warning had been issued in the waters off South China Sea until Jan 23.

Muhammad Helmi advised the public to always refer to the department's website at www.met.gov.my and social media as well as to download the myCuaca application for the latest information. - Bernama
