Sixteen nabbed for gambling in Bercham


IPOH: A total of 16 men were arrested during a raid at an illegal gambling den in Bercham on Jan 17, said Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.

He said the raid at the building took place at about 10.30pm.

"Based on the information we gathered, our personnel raided the building and arrested the suspects, aged between 22 and 44 years old, who we believe were involved with the gambling activities.

"We also seized more than RM8,000 cash as well as equipment used for the gambling," he said in a press statement on Wednesday (Jan 18).

Comm Mohd Yusri added that all the suspects have been remanded until Jan 20 to help investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 6(1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
