KUALA LUMPUR: Those who have concerns about the content of the movie "Pulau" are urged not to watch it, says comedian Harith Iskander.
In a TikTok video on Thursday (Jan 19), Harith said the reaction this week was out of proportion.
"Netizens are up in arms over the release of the promo of a movie called 'Pulau', which they do not seem to like," he said in the video.
Harith said people have been questioning the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) for allowing it.
"Netizens have been calling out and asking if they are crazy.
"Is it crazy for filmmakers to make a commercially successful movie and make a little bit of money?
"Listen, to those of you who are upset by this trailer, here is a suggestion, if you do not like a movie and you disagree with it, either morally, or you think it is not a good film and you think it is going to be bad for your morality, do not watch it," he said.
He added others should be allowed to watch if they wanted to do so, urging those who found issues with the trailer to "lower their gaze" and not watch it.
The trailer drew flak from the public as it depicted scenes that were deemed inappropriate.
