Local actor claims trial to hurting condo resident


KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Sharnaaz Ahmad has claimed trial at a Magistrate’s Court here on a charge of causing hurt to a resident at a condominium in an altercation last year.

Sharnaaz, also known as Sharnaaz Ahmad Bazir Ahmad, 38, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read out to him before Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed @ Mohamad Saim here yesterday.

According to the charge sheet, Sharnaaz allegedly voluntarily caused hurt to Izzul Islam Awang, 27, at a lift lobby at the entrance of a condominium block in Jalan Dutamas here at 8.30pm on June 16, last year.

He was accused under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to a year or a fine up to RM2,000 or both upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Nadia Eleena Jamaluddin Akbal offered bail at RM5,000.

The court fixed bail at RM2,000 with one surety. The case is set for mention on March 6.
