91-year-old woman found dead after break-in, suspect nabbed


JASIN: A nonagenarian was found dead after her village home was broken into at 2am Friday (Jan 20).

The victim, identified as Misah Md Amin, 91, was found lying lifeless in her kitchen by a neighbour at Kampung Pulai Darat in Merlimau here.

Jasin acting OCPD Asst Supt Mohd Fadzli Othman said police were informed of the crime at 3.45am.

He said medical officers confirmed the victim was dead when they arrived at the scene.

A neighbour who declined to be identified said she heard a commotion in the victim's kitchen at about 2am.

She also noticed a man fleeing the scene when she ran to the victim's aid.

ASP Mohd Fadzli said a 20-year-old suspect has been detained to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

He added the suspect has a criminal record with three previous robbery-related offences.
