Cops nab 446 suspected pushers, seize drugs worth RM4.6mil in three-day op


KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 446 suspected drug pushers were among 3,716 people detained in raids at Felcra and Felda settlements as well as people's housing projects (PPR) nationwide, according to police.

They were detained in a special operation codenamed Ops Tapis Khas held from Tuesday to Thursday (Jan 17-19).

"Also detained were 183 people on the wanted list for drug offences.

"Those detained were aged between 14 and 71 years old," the Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) said in a Facebook post on Friday (Jan 20).

The arrests were made after NCID officers screened 4,420 people during the three-day operation.

"NCID also seized 894kg of drugs, 647.6kg ketum leaves and 695.61litres of ketum water worth a total of RM4.64mil.

"We also seized four rifles, a pistol, 57 bullets and a samurai sword during the operation," the NCID said.

The NCID said police will step up operations to combat the drug menace.

"We hope the public will continue to give information on drug-related activities via the NCID hotline at 012-208 7222.
