Nabbed – couple who vandalised car after getting scolded for being drunk

KUALA LUMPUR: An argument among family members led to a car getting all its tyres punctured.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the victim parked his car on Friday (Jan 20) and found it damaged the following day.

"All four tyres were punctured, both front headlights smashed and there were scratch marks on the entire car.

"Based on the information gathered, the police arrested a couple on Sunday (Jan 22) in Taman Lembah Maju.

"Several items including a screwdriver and car key used during the incident were seized," he said here on Monday (Jan 23).

Investigations found that an argument occurred previously between the victim and the suspects, who are relatives.

They were scolded for coming to the victim's house drunk to meet another relative there.

Both suspects, aged 45, tested positive for benzodiazepine. The man works as a mechanic in Cheras and has three previous criminal offences on his record; the woman, who is jobless, also has a criminal offence on her record.

"The cause of the incident was due to the suspects being unhappy about being scolded. They have been remanded until Thursday (Jan 26)," ACP Mohamad Farouk said.
