JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in Johor has increased to 1,093 from 298 families, as of 4pm on Tuesday (Jan 24).
The State Disaster Management Committee said that the number had doubled compared to 422 victims from 120 families at 2pm on the same day.
"As of 4pm, we have rescued 1,093 flood victims from three affected districts, namely Segamat, Kota Tinggi, and Kluang.
"All of the victims have been placed at 13 temporary relief centres," the committee said in a statement.

The highest number of victims is at Segamat, with 975 people from 273 families placed at eight PPS, followed by Kluang with 75 victims from 19 families at four PPS.
"In Kota Tinggi, there are 43 victims from six families placed at one PPS at Dewan Kampung Baru Sungai Mas," it said.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has also issued an alert saying that continuous rain would fall in Johor until Wednesday (Jan 25).

There were also four rivers that had reached the dangerous level (red), with two rivers reaching the warning level (orange).
"The dangerous rivers are Sungai Gemas, Sungai Lenik, and Sungai Segamat in Segamat, and Sungai Kahang in Kluang.
"The warning rivers are at Sungai Muar and Sungai Labis in Segamat," it said.
The flood also caused road closures in Kota Tinggi on Jalan Ladang Sidang and Segamat on Jalan Senai-Gemas.
