SEGAMAT: The National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) has been directed to ensure that all operational control centres at state and district level are on full alert, with more spells of bad weather foreseen before the north-east monsoon season is over.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah, Sarawak Affairs and Special Functions) Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali added that the National Disaster Control Centre would be functioning 24 hours a day to coordinate with all agencies involved in disaster management.

He noted that from the start of the monsoon in November up to Wednesday (Jan 25), some 121,594 flood victims from 34,357 families have sought shelter in 444 temporary relief centres nationwide.
“I would like to remind the public to always (pay attention to) the weather warnings issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

“Do not postpone moving to a relief centre when told to do so by the authorities," he said during a visit to relief centres in the district here.
He added that coordination of aid distribution, including Bantuan Wang Ihsan, to flood victims was being managed by the respective district officers.
