KOTA KINABALU: The late Datuk Agnes Shim will be remembered for her contributions to MCA and Malaysia, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president, who had flown to Kota Kinabalu to pay his last respects to the former Sabah Wanita MCA chief yesterday, also conveyed his condolences to Shim’s family members.

“The late Datuk Agnes Shim will be remembered for her contributions to the party and the nation.

“I also conveyed my condolences to her family members, including her daughter, Datuk Dr Pamela Yong, who is MCA deputy secretary-general and Sabah Wanita MCA chief,” Dr Wee said in a Facebook post yesterday.

The Ayer Hitam MP was accompanied by Sabah MCA chairman Lu Yen Tung, his deputy Datuk Pang Shin Fon, state party secretary Datuk Yong Soo Pin and other division leaders.

Shim passed away peacefully at her home in Kota Kinabalu at the age of 68 last Sunday.

Shim, who was also a former state senator, was said to have been battling illness for many years.
