Probe into viral NKVE crash over confusing lane marking

PETALING JAYA: A full investigation has been ordered into an accident on the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) allegedly caused by confusion over lane markings, says Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

The Works Minister said the collision between the two vehicles had apparently occurred due to uncertainty over the overlapping yellow and white markings.

“Concessionaire Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH) has since started repair works on Tuesday night with the works expected to be completed over three nights.

“DASH authorities have also identified other locations where the infrastructure has to be improved,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.

Nanta said highway authorities and related concessionaires would also evaluate locations along the NKVE, with an emphasis towards ensuring its lane markings were clearly drawn.

“This needs to be given serious attention as it involves safety and the lives of road users.” he said.

Earlier this week, a video went viral showing two cars colliding, allegedly because of the drivers’ confusion over lane markings near the Kota Damansara exit of the NKVE.

In the video, one of the vehicles was seen travelling along a stretch of road with overlapping white and temporary yellow lane markings before realising it was too close to the vehicle next to it and eventually losing control.

This resulted in both vehicles crashing into roadside dividers there.

Nanta also shared a video dated Jan 23 of the accident involving a Toyota Veloz and Toyota Innova.
