Yayasan Petronas distributes festive goodies to 50 Labuan families

LABUAN: Around 50 families here had a pleasant surprise when they were given food items and festive hampers by Yayasan Petronas in conjunction with Chinese New Year.

The items were given during the company's Sentuhan Kasih festive programme, said Petronas Chemicals Methanol Sdn Bhd (PC Methanol) chief executive officer Lawai Jok.

He added the house-to-house distribution was carried out by the oil company's volunteers, comprising employees and the leadership team of PC Methanol last Friday (Jan 27).

"Engaging and supporting members of the community around our operations area has always been the focus of our social impact programmes. We hope that through this gesture we can help in spreading joy during this festive season," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Jan 31).

He said the recipients included the elderly, single mothers, orphans and persons with disabilities identified by the Labuan Social Welfare Department.The initiative was part of the Sentuhan Kasih programme in conjunction with Chinese New Year this year involving over 2,000 recipients from B40 families nationwide. – Bernama
