Zahidi says he would prefer to join Amanah over PKR

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin (pic) says he would rather join Amanah instead of PKR after getting feedback from the grassroots.

The former Umno supreme council member said his decision came after discussions with the grassroots in his Padang Besar constituency who preferred Amanah over PKR.

"As of today, there are 150 people ready to join Pakatan Harapan, regardless of whether it's PKR or Amanah.

"I will choose Pakatan regardless of which party I join, but I will probably join Amanah because they seem more willing to accept me," he told reporters after attending a get together with Padang Besar residents in Dewan Bukit Jernih on Sunday (Feb 4), reported a news portal.

Zahidi was expelled from Umno after he contested for both the Padang Besar parliamentary and Titi Tinggi state seats as an independent during the recent 15th General Election.

On Jan 30, Zahidi had stated that he and other Umno leaders were planning to submit their membership application forms to PKR.
