KANGAR: The Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) has allocated RM15,053,511 to help asnaf (those eligible to receive zakat or tithe), under the Housing Assistance Scheme in 2022.
MAIPs said that RM11,993,511 had been distributed to 128 families, who received the ‘Bantuan Sebuah Kediaman MAIPs’ or MAIPs Peduli housing assistance, while another 205 families had received home improvement assistance.
In addition, MAIPs also channelled a total of RM3,060,000, under the ‘Bantuan Baikpulih Mikro’ assistance, distributed through 102 kariah (parishes) statewide last year.
The matter had been presented to the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, by the MAIPs chief executive officer, Mohd Nazim Mohd, recently, it said in a statement.
Mohd Nazim also expressed hope that the assistance will achieve the MAIPs tithe aid distribution aim, which is to address the asnaf’s hardship through a long-term sustainable development goal. - Bernama
