Brisk sales under Rahmah initiative, says Salahuddin

JOHOR BARU: Businesses taking part in the Rahmah initiative have been seeing an increase in the number of customers, says Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister said a supermarket chain that recently launched the Jualan Rahmah had even reported an increase in sales of about 30% in its stores nationwide.

"This is the spillover effect that we have been hoping for as it is beneficial for everyone.

"The people are able to enjoy low price tags while industry players also gain some benefits.

"So far, a majority of the shops I have visited under the Jelajah Rahmah programme have said that they have seen an increase in the number of customers they received after taking part in the initiative," he said.

He said this to reporters after launching the Menu Rahmah for a fast food chain here in Persiaran Indah, Johor Baru.

He added that the initiative also changed the business model of participants and brought positive impacts.

Salahuddin also said that the ministry would be developing a mobile application where the public could find more details on restaurants offering Menu Rahmah.

"The application will be developed soon and we hope that will be helpful for the public.

"It will provide the public with a directory, allowing them to know where to go for Menu Rahmah.

"We will also engage with industry players to find out what is the most suitable sales hours for the menu at participating restaurants," he said.

He said this in response to questions on eateries and restaurant operators who limit their sales hours for Menu Rahmah.
