Preacher apologises to Hindus over 'devil worshipping' comment

PETALING JAYA: Independent preacher Mohamad Wadi Annuar Ayub apologised to the Hindus on Sunday (Feb 12) for his statement for equating the Thaipusam procession to "devil worshipping" during a ceramah at a Melaka mosque on Friday (Feb 10).

"I apologise to all Hindus in the Indian community for my statement, and I wish to clarify that I have no intention to insult or offend any disciple of other religions," he said in a statement.

"I hereby wish to state that I sincerely respect the multi-racial society and the religious diversity of our country.

"Hopefully, with my apology statement, the harmonious relationship among the various multi-ethnic groups in the country can be preserved," he added.

An individual had filed a police report regarding the incident at the Muadzam Shah police station in Rompin, Pahang on Sunday (Feb 12).
