Cops arrest 11 men as suspects after video of fight goes viral

BATU PAHAT: Police have arrested 11 local men as suspects after a fight went viral on social media.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah said a man lodged a report about a fight between him and his family with a food delivery rider at around 2.30pm on Monday (Feb 13).

"The fight happened at a homestay in Sri Gading. The food delivery rider has also lodged a police report about the incident and both complainants sustained minor injuries to their heads and bodies," said ACP Ismail.

He added on Tuesday (Feb 14) that police personnel then arrested the 11 suspects after each of them came to the police station to make a report respectively.

ACP Ismail said that further checks found that a video recording of their fight had gone viral on social media.

"The public should refrain themselves from speculating on the case as we are still investigating the cause of their fight," he said.

ACP Ismail added that the case was being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
