Drug bust: Cars damaged in Jalan Klang Lama after man attempted to escape from cops

KUALA LUMPUR: Narcotics operations in the city saw almost half a million ringgit in drugs seized.

In a statement, Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said that two raids on Feb 14 saw the arrest of a 38-year-old man and seizure of more than 10,000 Erimin 5 pills.

"The first raid was conducted at a car along Jalan Klang Lama where the suspect was caught. Around 5kg of syabu was seized worth RM233,000.

“Following that, a second raid was conducted at a condominium in Taman Desa where a further 14,600 Erimin 5 pills were found, with its value estimated around RM219,000," he said on Wednesday (Feb 15).

Checks showed that the suspect had prior drug-related offences. He also tested positive for methamphetamine.

At the time of the arrest, the suspect had acted aggressively, leading to multiple cars being damaged during his attempt to escape.

"However, no injuries were reported. At least four cars belonging to members of the public were damaged and one had heavy damage as a result of him attempting to evade police capture," Comm Azmi said.

The man has been remanded until Feb 21. Comm Azmi said that the bust was the result of tip-offs by the public.
